For over 14 years Joe Cataldo and his son Mike
have run M.J. Cataldo, Inc., based in Littleton, MA. Their business
specializes in site development, full-service landscaping and property
maintenance. Northern recently connected with Joe to discuss how his
team, which he refers to as Team Cataldo, has adapted their day-to-day
operations in response to the pandemic.
“We continue to tell our customers, we want to keep working,” Joe
relayed to Northern. He has had several conversations with town
officials, where projects are located, to ensure them that the proper
Covid-19 regulations are followed. Joe explained the importance of
understanding customer’s concerns during these challenging times,
especially when it comes to maintaining social distancing
recommendations. “We respect our customer’s wishes, and we are doing
everything possible to follow the guidelines put in place.”
Team Cataldo also sees the importance of not completely hitting the
pause button on all their projects. There are the smaller jobs that are
imperative to keeping communities running and residents smiling, such as
doing trash pickup at the local shopping plaza or planting flower beds
at the assisted living homes. Then they have the bigger projects where,
once the pandemic is over, communities will be able to come together and
enjoy. For example, M.J. Cataldo, Inc. is close to completing a park in
Lynnfield and a pedestrian foot bridge in Bedford. Although these
community spaces remain empty for now, the Cataldos and their team
continue to #StayTrue to their commitment to service these towns and are
determined to have them ready for the brighter tomorrows.
None of this work could be done without M.J. Cataldo, Inc.’s employees,
whom Joe and Mike consider an extension of their family. Thanks to the
Cataldo’s dedication to keeping projects in progress and implementing
the new protocols, all 51 team members have been able to stay on the
payroll. Joe and Mike’s number one priority has been the safety of their
employees and their employees’ families. Therefore, they strictly
adhere to and enforce the proper safety precautions while crews are on
job sites.
Team Cataldo’s story of perseverance and facing these hurdles head on,
is truly inspiring. “We will get through this,” Joe explained, “and I
just keep telling my wife how fortunate we are that we can keep our
businesses running, and it could be much worse.”
Thank you M.J. Cataldo, Inc. for sharing your #StayTrue message.
