At the beginning of the 2018-2019 football season,
Northern Bank, a Massachusetts-based community and business bank,
teamed up with New England’s Sony Michel and 98.5 the Sports Hub for
their “Taking it to the House” campaign. As part of the campaign,
Northern Bank donated $1,000 to Heading Home Inc. for every New England
touchdown during the regular season. Heading Home Inc. is a non-profit
that works to help end homelessness in the Greater Boston area.
“We are truly proud of our partnership with Sony Michel and 98.5 the
Sports Hub radio network to help end homelessness in Boston,” said Jim
Mawn, President and CEO of Northern Bank. “With Sony and New England’s
success this year, we are thrilled to make such an impactful donation to
the Boston community.”
Sony Michel and New England finished with a stellar season,
culminating with another championship. The team scored 51 touchdowns
throughout the regular season. Due to the success of the program
Northern Bank extended the campaign through the playoffs bringing the
total amount donated to $62,000 .
“I am a strong believer in serving and making an impact within your
community,” said Sony Michel, New England star running back. “It’s been
great to team up with Northern Bank and Heading Home to make a
difference for the Charlestown family and overall combat homelessness in
Boston.”
Earlier in the season, the “Taking it to the House” partnership
surprised a Charlestown family with their first home. Volunteers from
Northern Bank furnished the home, making it move in-ready and decorated
for the holidays. To top off the surprise, Michel made a special
appearance to present the family their keys to their new home.
