Northern Bank unveils giant piggybank to support charitable giving
Drop a chip in the oversized piggybank and the bank will donate to a Stoneham nonprofit
Stoneham, Massachusetts, June 13, 2022 – Anyone who visits Northern Bank in Stoneham will have a say in how the bank directs charitable donations to three local nonprofits.
The program, which Northern Bank announced at a ribbon cutting ceremony for its newest branch in Stoneham, calls on residents and businesses to vote for their favorite local charity by dropping one of three colorful tokens inside the see-through belly of a 60-pound, 3-foot-long custom-made wooden piggybank.
The organization with the most chips will be awarded a $13,000 grant (in honor of Northern Bank’s 13th location in Stoneham) from the Northern Bank Charitable Foundation. Second place receives $5,000 and third place takes home $2,500.
Charitable participants include: the Stoneham Food Pantry, Stoneham Senior Center and the Boys & Girls Club of Stoneham & Wakefield. Representatives from all three gathered at Northern Bank for a rally to kick off the program, which runs until July 8, 2022.
